Name a high-profile development and chances
are that among the key players will be chartered surveyors and property
consultants David Adamson.
Such is the case at Methil Docks in Fife, where
the Edinburgh-based practice, is playing a central role in a major regeneration
programme which, by 2003, will have transformed the area. A prestige office
complex is one of the contracts currently being undertaken by David Adamson,
who are also involved in further work at Methil Docks, including a new
bakery and food production centre; advanced factory units and a health
and leisure complex. David Adamson also provided cost advice with regards
to the Regeneration study for Methil & Buckhaven.
Durie Street, Leven
Established in 1930, David Adamson is based
in Edinburgh and has offices in Aberdeen, Lerwick, London, Glasgow and
even Qatar, as well as Kirkcaldy. Hand in hand with the firm's expanding
network has been the development of its services, and now it offers a
comprehensive range of surveying and housing research functions. Founder
of the Kirkcaldy office, John King, also plays a key role in dispute resolution,
in his capacity as a member of the RICS in Scotland Chairman's Panel of
Adjudicators. John was also involved in the refurbishment of the West
Bridge Mill and was a board member of the Kirkcaldy Foyer.
Turner Crescent, Methil
The firm whose reputation for quality was underlined
this year when its Fife office, set up in Kirkcaldy in 1996 at the West
Bridge Mill, became one of the few surveying practices in Scotland to
achieve Investors in People status. In addition, they were amongst the
first surveying practices in Scotland to operate a Quality Assurance system
in line with ISO 9001, a system still firmly in place in each of its branches.
Abbey Lane, Edinburgh
All this follows hard on the heels of their
success at the Rosyth Ferry terminal project, where their expertise in
cost planning and value management enabled Dew Construction to complete
the project in time despite exceptionally tight timescales. Close to the
terminal, David Adamson is also involved in the conversion of a former
MoD property into a hotel and leisure facility.
Pittencrief Street, Dunfermline
Hunter Hospital, Kirkcaldy
Recognised widely for its dynamic, progressive
work, the Kirkcaldy office of David Adamson is currently playing a key
role in several major projects. They include the £2.2m redevelopment
of the former Hunter Hospital in Kirkcaldy, a new industrial park at the
former Frances colliery site in Dysart; the £1.5m redevelopment
of the Co-op buildings in Lochgelly; and a £1.7m resource unit and
housing development in Dunfermline.
Recently completed projects include the
£5m redevelopment of housing at Auchterderran, Cardenden; £2.5m
redevelopment of Co-op buildings in Leven; £2.1m housing development
in High Valleyfield; £2.7m luxury flatted development in Edinburgh
and pilot 'sustainable/green' award winning housing development at Turner
Crescent, Methil.
